I lived in on-campus housing at ACOM during my didactic years 1 and 2. After getting chosen to stay in Dothan for my 3rd and 4th year clinical rotations, I decided that I wanted the extra space and privacy you get when you live in a house compared to an apartment.
While shopping for a homes I was forced to consider a lot of things, some normal to home buying, and some specific to a medical students needs.
- I wanted something close by, so that when I wanted to sleep in that extra minute, or quickly run home for lunch, I could.
- I wanted a quiet, peaceful neighborhood so that I could focus on my studying without noisy interruptions or fear of my safety.
- I wanted a house with adequate study areas and good lighting.
- I wanted a home that was move in ready so that I could focus more on school and less on the house.
Recognizing that most of the incoming students were trying to find houses from across the country with no way to know the safe areas or what to look for locally, I used the knowledge I had gained while buying my own home to help match incoming students with other landlords.
I have now partnered with others in Dothan, and together we are listing our houses. I have personally visited and approved of all of the houses listed on this site, and you will get to deal with me directly as your landlord for all lease related concerns.
